Monday, May 9, 2011

ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) ? Atlanta police and fire officials say a woman's body was found inside a house that was being torn down.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that fire officials don't know how the woman died, or if she was already dead when the work began Saturday.

Capt. J.L. Bundridge of the Atlanta Fire Department told the newspaper that "during the process of demolition, they were starting to remove debris and that's when the body was discovered."

Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the woman "could have been alive when the demolition began, but we will not know until the medical examiner rules."

WSB TV is reporting that witnesses heard a cry. They said she died before firefighters could pull her from the rubble. The woman had not been identified Saturday night.
